Hi! I’m a PhD candidate in geology at Baylor University and a science communicator. My research focuses on using biogeochemistry to examine how historical, enslaved plantation agriculture impacted soils in the Southeastern United States. As a science communicator, most of my work is related to the nonprofit I co-founded, the Black Science Coalition and Institute (B-SCI). This includes crafting stories on all fields of science, usually with a focus on expanding scientific interest to historically marginalized communities. I’ve also written stories for the Dallas Morning News, the American Geophysical Union, and Compass Science Communication.
